Onehau Bach
Marlborough Sounds
Completed 2010
NZIA Nelson Marlborough Architecture Award 2010

Accessible only by a boat and cable car journey, this new bach sits above and behind existing family baches in a private bay in Queen Charlotte Sound. It provides a retreat-like, relaxed destination from which to watch over, participate in or simply escape from the extended family fun below. Spaces and form are recessive as they shape with the topography and allow the surrounding native NZ bush to contribute to the privacy and shelter of the view.
