Te Tari Maori accommodates NMIT's School of Maori Studies. The challenge of this project lay in designing a building complex that enhanced the scale and circulation patterns of the existing central campus; reinvigorated a dilapidated heritage building; housed this cultural faculty in a sympathetic building; and juxtaposed new and existing to form a coherent whole.
