Ian Jack arrived in Nelson
in 1974 after 3 years travelling and working in London and Bermuda, and founded his
architecture practice in 1977. Ian has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Auckland
University and is an elected Fellow of the NZ Institute of Architects. He
has won numerous design awards and served as both convenor and juror on
NZIA awards committees.
Away from work, Ian's interests centre on the outdoors.
Every year he retreats to the mountains with friends, camping
out and exploring the beauty of our National Parks. Recently
he has been building a holiday bach in the Marlborough Sounds,
a slow process frequently interrupted by the pull of fishing
trips. His love of nature leads to a strong interest in
landscape and a commitment to relate buildings harmoniously
to their surroundings.
